We may be a month into 2017, that doesn’t mean that it’s too late to make any more New Year’s resolutions. After all, if it’s going toward a good cause – such as improved oral health – then it’s never too late to start a resolution! At the office of Dr. Richard Goldberg, it’s our goal to provide everyone in and around Monroe Township, NJ with the ability to maintain a healthy smile, whether you’re in our office or not. As your trusted Monroe Township, NJ dentist, we’re proud to offer a number of family and general dentistry treatments to improve the health of your smile. Follow a Good Oral Hygiene Regimen

We all lead busy lives and that’s understandable. We may feel like we don’t have enough time in one day, but that doesn’t mean that we still can’t make time to follow a good oral hygiene regimen. It only takes two minutes to brush your teeth, which is an incredibly worthwhile investment when considering that doing so can help ensure that you’ll have healthy teeth for life. Make sure to brush at least twice a day and floss daily as well. Flossing will make sure to get out any food particles that may be stuck in your teeth.

Cut Down on the Sugary Foods

Sugary foods are harmful to your teeth because bacteria will use the sugar in these foods to produce acids that will erode tooth enamel. This can lead to cavities, root canal problems, and even tooth loss in more severe cases. This is why it’s important to cut back on sugary foods. Make sure to especially watch out for sugary drinks (and acidic drinks too) such as soda, energy drinks, sports drinks, or sweet tea. Try limiting your consumption of these drinks, but when you do drink them, consume them with a straw so that the liquid bypasses your front teeth.

Schedule an Appointment with Your Local Dentist

Visiting your dentist twice a year is incredibly important if you want to maintain a healthy smile. Dentists like Dr. Goldberg can identify potential problems in their earliest stages, and treat them effectively. Without regular dental appointments, oral health issues may not become apparent until it’s progressed to a much more serious stage. Regular visits to the dentist will allow your dentist to thoroughly examine and clean your teeth, and check for early signs of issues such as tooth decay and gum disease.
